WHY RAISING LIONS EXISTS

Leadership begins
at home.

We put serious thought into our work. The people we’re raising deserve the same intention.

JAY BOURGANA / FOUNDER

A community built
around a real question.

Founded by Jay Bourgana, Raising Lions brings together about 500 families who want to be intentional about the people they’re raising.

Raising Lions began because thoughtful parents wanted a place to ask real questions, share what was working, challenge one another, and learn from parents in different seasons.

Parenting decisions are too consequential to outsource entirely to schools, algorithms, popular culture, influencers, experts, or default convention. Expertise matters. So do family context and honest observation.

Our shared question is simple: how do we give our children extraordinary opportunities without making them dependent on us?

We are not here because we have parenting figured out. We are here because it matters enough to keep learning.

A PARENTING BRAIN TRUST

Bring the decision.
Leave with a better question.

01

Compare context.

Explain the situation, what you’ve tried, and where you are stuck. Listen for what is different in another family, as well as what is similar.

02

Test the thinking.

Ask what an idea assumes, what could go wrong, and what support a child needs. Thoughtful disagreement makes the conversation useful.

03

Try. Observe. Return.

Choose a small, appropriate experiment at home. Bring back what happened—including the parts that did not match your expectations.

THE CULTURE

Don’t bring a fork
to the potluck.

You don’t need impressive credentials. You do need the intention to contribute.

A useful question can unlock a conversation. An honest mistake can save another family a detour. Hard-earned hindsight can help a parent see a decision differently.

This is not a status club, a competition between children, or a place to perform certainty. It is a place to take responsibility for our own learning.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

A few good questions.

Is Raising Lions a parenting course?

No. It is a private community for comparing experience, questioning assumptions, and learning alongside other parents. The Field Guide offers practical starting points, not a universal curriculum.

Is this only for entrepreneurs or dads?

No. Entrepreneurial and high-agency families may recognize the questions here, but the shared identity is intentional parenting. Parents of any profession are welcome to apply; wealth and status are not the point.

Do we need to agree on everything?

No. Shared commitment to capable, responsible children leaves room for different family circumstances and thoughtful disagreement. Curiosity and the willingness to revise a view matter more than having the same answer.

What should I bring to the community?

Bring a real question, an experience others could learn from, practical expertise, or an honest account of something that did not work. Contribution is not a performance of success.

Does applying commit me to membership or payment?

No. The application helps Raising Lions understand your family and potential fit. Membership details can be discussed in follow-up before you make a commitment.

Can I start without applying?

Yes. Read the free Field Guide, try a family exercise, or subscribe to the newsletter. You do not need to join the community to use those resources.
